Oppose Sanctions and War on Iraq
Protest against Labour's ethical [this word is crossed out and 'genocidal' written above it] foreign policy
Tony Blair's government has recently celebrated 1000 days in power. Every six minutes of these thousand days, an Iraqi child has died as a direct result of the UK government’s policies of sanctions and war on Iraq.*
In recent months, the UK has vetoed the export of vaccines intended for Iraqi children and has joined with the US in blocking $1.3 billion of humanitarian supplies. UK warplanes continue to bomb Iraqi targets on a weekly basis.
The pretext for this inhuman and criminal policy is to “contain Saddam”. Yet the UK and US backed his regime for decades, supplying all the weapons he needed to kill his own people, so as to preserve a safe investment climate for UK and US oil companies.
The biggest problem in the Middle East is not Saddam, but the determination of western powers to rule over and exploit the peoples and natural resources of the region.
“Ethical foreign policy”? It’s a disgrace! Blair, Clinton and Cook are war criminals!
*This figure has been established
by various UN studies, the latest by UNICEF, which reported that infant
mortality of 131/1000 is three times what it would have been in the absence
of the brutal sanctions regime and the devastation of the civilian infrastructure
and economy by US and UK bombs in 1991 and since.
