Introduction
Everybody should be very familiar with the Intergra by now. It was introduced to fill the void between the Civic and the Accord. Being more sporty than both, the top model Type R, uses the B18C5 with Honda's Vtec Technology. The platform is shared with the Civic, making ergonomics and dimensions very similar. The car has a inherently light weight chassis, meaning it's 195 hp (TypeR model)  is easily enough to motivate the car pass higher powered cars. This also means that the car is very responsive to steering and braking.

The Car
The Intergra's sportiness, is not  it's only strength. The car is totally practical, with good rear head room and a very usable trunk. The front seats are also very sportive for cornering and is comfortable for long trips. Engine and road noise is noticeably higher than in the GSR model, but is not excessive. Gas mileage is what you would expect from a 1.8L. The ride is not overly stiff and the steering is well weighted. Handling is the Type R's real strength. It is definitely the best handling front wheel drive car in production today(US). Front wheel drive is prone to understeer and premature front lock up under braking. But, the Intergra hides the weaknesses of FF so well, that it is able to out handle many rear wheel drive sports cars. The car is very easily trailed braked into corners and there is minimal understeer when powering out. Giving the driver confidence in most situations.

Due to high demand and limited production, the Type R model may be hard to find. You will have to either have luck or be willing to pay a premium for this model. Compared to the GSR model there are many differences. The chassis is lightened and options deleted as well as differently tuned suspension and engine. The transmission uses a different set of ratios, which allows the engine to keep in the sweet spot. The Type R definitely provides the driver with a different feeling through all aspects of corning, shifting, and braking.

Opinion
With the TypeR being a limited model. It is difficult for most people to get their hands on a TypeR. Since this car came from the factory equipped to be raced, it is hard to compare it with normal cars. Hand assembled engines and lack of sound deadening are not things you find in most cars. That is what makes it one of the best cars for running your favorite back roads. It maybe the best handling front wheel drive car ever produced.
