Welcome to the European Descendants Web page.  This was my first website, a learning process for sure. Many updates are needed and will appear as time passes. These pages contain information on Johannes Diebert (Tibert) of Palatinate who settled on the South Shores of Nova Scotia. Eventually, one Typert married a McDonald and became my greatgrandparents. Through the years, many families joined the Deiberts (Tibert, Tipert, Typert and more spellings) creating a mass relation web stretching across Canada and into the United States. My mother's family roots come from Newfoundland. The two family surnames researched are Appleby and Taylor.

ATTENTION:  Veterans of Guysborough County and their Families

Do you have a veteran in the family? One who was born in Guysborough County? Or one who spent most of his/her life in Guysborough County? Did they serve during the First or Second World Wars either overseas or in Canada? If so, please, read on.

Research is currently underway for a book to capture and preserve the identities of the Guysborough County Veterans. Every veteran who served in WWI and WWII will be listed along with a summary of their military information. Within this book, the authors hope to capture the names, faces, thoughts, memories and history of those who served to keep Canada a free country. The authors are proud of these men and women, and through this book they hope to keep their spirits alive and educate future generations about their history. Familiar Guysborough County names like Avery, Armsworthy, Baker, Cook, Dort, Ehler, Feltmate, Fanning, Greencorn, Hattie, MacDonald, Newell, O'Hara, Pelley, Richardson, Silver, Tibert, Uloth, Worth, Zinck and many more are among the many veterans who make up the lists.

Anyone wishing to contribute information on themselves or on the behalf of others, or to learn more about the project, please, visit the web site:

The Veterans of Guysborough County

Veterans who served with Allied forces other than Canadian will also be included. The book will include those who served with the Army, Navy, Air Force and Merchant Marines (Merchant Navy). On the Veterans of Guysborough County web site, you will learn how to request military records for family members from all wars. The link page will take you to many interesting Canadian military web sites and web sites with connections to Guysborough County.

Please, take a moment and read through the many lists of veterans. If you see a name that should be there or if you have information on any of the veterans (even if just a middle name), drop us a line. Our email addresses can be found on the web site, along with our mailing addresses.

Thank you, Diana Lynn Tibert   tibert@ns.sympatico.ca

If you find a relative amongst my family, please, let me know so we can share information.
Anyone with information or stories to share on the families from the Liscomb Mills and surrounding area are invited to share them with me.  I am currently researching and gathering information for a future book on the people who settled the area since the early 1800s. Thank you.
NEW:  POSTED JANUARY 24, 2001:  Have you arrived at this page only to discover no Tibert ancestors in my tree?  But what if you know they came from Nova Scotia?  Well, wait no longer.  Another Tibert family does exist in Nova Scotia.  One of their descendants is working on a web site to post the information, but until it is available, I have made a page with the information I gathered through the years from the Public Archives in Nova Scotia.  Drop me a note and let me know if you see your Tibert line here with the Digby Tibert Family.  Thank you.

                                                 WHITEWOOD FAMILY GENEALOGY
Lindsey Wood has posted this site in hopes to find information on John Whitewood's descendants.  John was born c.1854 in Guysborough County (?), Nova Scotia and died after 1891 in Ecum Secum.  His wife Jane Dorey, born c.1860, in Head of St. Margaret's Bay, died in a fire in Liscomb Mills by the Liscomb River (where the Liscomb Lodge now stands) in 1891.  Lindsey is looking for further information on Jane Dorey and Jane's and John's seven children (they had eight, but the youngest died in the fire).  A list of their children with birthdates is on the site.  If you have any
information to assist Lindsey in his search, drop by his site and contact him by e-mail.
