Alafair married Floyd Coleman in MCDowell Co. Wva. in 1906, son of R.D. ( Richard Denny Coleman) and Nancy Coleman. Richard's father was Isaac Coleman. Nancy's maiden name is unknown. The marriage record states that Alafair was age 16 and Floyd was 19. Floyd was born in Pike County Kentucky.
Floyd and Alafair had six children. At some point, Floyd was put in a Mental Hospital. I have no information on the cause other than family stories. While he was in the hospital, he was kicked in the side, by a guard or another patient, while on his knees praying. He died of the injuries inflicted, soon after.
Alafair died February, 17, 1965 in Welch Wva. She is buried at Mile Branch, in McDowell County. The cause of death was heart disease. Children of Alafair and Floyd are listed below. Their daughter Aretta was my husband's mother.
Aretta was born Feb. 11 1911 in McDowell County Wva.. She married Miles William Church at the age of 14 years old.
Aretta & Miles had 13 children of which 11 survived to adulthood. Two children were stillborn.
