Thomas Tolbert Kinsey served in Captain William Clements Co. Mtd. Rangers, Coryell County, Texas in 1861. He also served from 1862 until the close of the war in 1865 in Company A, 30th. Texas Calvary, Confederate States Army.

4. William Madison Kinsey, Sr., born Abt. 1816 in Walker County, Alabama; died 21 September 1896 in Coryell County, Texas; burial: September 1896, Hamilton, Hamilton, Texas.  He was the son of 8. Thomas Kinsey, Sr. and 9. Sarah Jane "Sally" McNutt. He married 5. Nancy Ann Tolbert 26 September 1838 in Lawrence County, Alabama.

Notes for William Madison Kinsey, Sr.:
William Madison Kinsey Sr. was born about 1816 in Alabama to Thomas and Sarah McNutt Kinsey, Sr. William grew up in Walker County, Alabama. On September 26, 1838, William M. Kinsey married Nancy Ann Talbot / Tolbert in Lawrence County, Alabama. William and Nancy were in Tennessee by October 6, 1839, when their first child, Sarah Ann, was born. They moved on and were in St. Francis County, Arkansas in 1840, when the census were taken. They were still in Arkansas in April 1842, when their second child, Thomas Tolbert was born. Some time between April 1842 and 1845, William and Nancy with their two small children moved on to Texas. William was in Rusk County, Texas in 1845. William M. Kinsey was a Mercer Colonist and was given a grant of 640 acres of land on the 7th of May 1850. He settled on land in Hunt County, Texas and was issued a patent on the 3rd of August 1853. William sold that land and moved on into Coryell County, Texas. William's first land on Cowhouse County was 320 acres located on Tablerock Creek, Coryell County, Texas. William owned several small pieces of land on Cowhouse Creek and one large tract which contained 4605 acres. That tract of land was the M. G. Carmana Survey located on Cowhouse Creek near King, Coryell County, Texas. He is on a petition in Bell County in December of 1851. That part of Bell County became Coryell County in 1854.

William and wife Nancy Ann were charter members of the Sugar Loaf Primitive Baptist Church, this was the first Primitive Baptist Church in Coryell County, Texas and was organized by Elder Jesse Graham in August of 1856. In 1857, William and Nancy's daughter Sarah Ann was married to Elder Jesse Graham's son Isaac Jackson Graham.

He served in Captain William Clements', Company Mounted Rangers, Coryell County, 28th Brig. Texas State Troops. He enlisted in 1861. This Company of the Mounted Rangers was organized for the protection of the frontier. The dates that William served is not shown.

He also served in Captain Gideon Graham's, Company for the 2nd. Frontier District, Coryell County, Major G. B. Erath was the commander of the Texas State Troops. William enlisted in January of 1864 at Gatesville, Texas and he served until May 31, 1864. William was paid $20.00.

By an act of the Twelfth Legislature which was appointed on August 13, 1870, a system of public free schools was provided. In accordance with the act trustees were appointed. William Madison Kinsey, Sr. was appointed a trustee in Precinct # 1, 3rd. sub.-district Cowhouse.

He was an ordained Deacon in the Bethlehem Primitive Bapist Church, in Coryell County, Texas in 1891.

William, his wife, Nancy and their daugher, Sarah Ann Kinsey Graham belonged to the Citizen of the Republic of Texas. Sarah Ann Kinsey Graham has a Citizen of the Republic of Texas Bronze Marker on her grave.

He died 21 September 1896 and is believed to be buried in the King Cemetery, King, Coryell County, Texas. (There is no marker and the old cemetery book has been lost.) In the King Cemetery there is an unmarked grave beside William's daughter, Sarah Ann, it is believed that this is William's grave.

8. Thomas Kinsey, Sr., born 22 January 1781 in Culpeper County, Virginia; died 27 August 1868 in Coryell County, Texas-buried Kinneen Cemetery, Coryell County, Texas. He was the son of 16. Peter T. Kinsey, Jr. and 17. Martha Piethuff. He married 9. Sarah Jane "Sally" McNutt 31 October 1811 in Mississippi Territory, Madison County, Alabama.

9. Sarah Jane "Sally" McNutt, born January 1795 in Blount County, Tennessee; died 13 January 1879 in Gatesville, Coryell County, Texas; buried in Old City Cemetery, Gatesville, Coryell County, Texas. She was the daughter of 18. James McNutt and 19. Margaret Elizabeth Finley Gillespie.

In 1839 or 1840, Thomas and Sarah were in Red River County, Texas where three of the sons, Roland, Lunsford, and Thomas were hunting and set the prairie on fire. The twins burned to death but Thomas escaped with severely injured hands.

Kinsey traditions state that 3 boys and a girl came over from Ireland. They were of German descent. The girl married a Semour (Seymore) and settled at Varnell. The boys were Roland, Peter, Tom and the girl.

He was in Hagerstown, Maryland by 1735 and in Staunton, Augusta, Virginia by 1746. One marriage date for Jane and Alexander was shown as 1743; this indicates he may have had another wife.
