Notes for Mary Harding:
She came to America with her parents at the age of 4 and located in Ohio. They resided there for a few years then moved to Illinois and located in Jasper county where the family lived through many hardships in this new frontier life.

Family tradition says her ship landed at Philadelphia, PA

"Willaim Peneton and family of four children moved from Virginia. to Ohio in 1833. When a young ma n, he went to Shenadoah County Virginia, but never seemed to know anything of his parents, someone else must have raised him, that was his misfortune."
