"Lovelines"

A Young View

There is one thing that hasn't changed in the lives of teenagers; their attitude towards sex.  Sex is still an uncomfortable subject to talk about even though we're well into the 21st century.  The topic of sex came up on UWEC's TV10 on a show called "Lovelines."

On "Lovelines" students would call in and ask questions.  The host Eric, also an UWEC student, would try and assist the caller, but never seemed to be able to.  When the caller asked his/her question, Eric would make jokes and comment on the question.  This at times seemed inappropriate.  After all, the caller should be applauded for getting up enough courage to call in and ask a question.  The last thing he/she needs is to be laughed at, but I guess when a topic is hard to discuss the easy way out is to make a joke. When Eric made these jokes it was hard for anyone to be serious.

Besides caller questions, audience members also had a chance to ask questions.  The audience was made up of all students.  Throughout the show a few were brave enough to ask questions.  No matter what the question was, there was a good chance you would hear a snicker from someone in the audience.   I can even remember the camera man laughing.  I'm sure the individual who asked the question was not offended by the snickering and laughing, but I still think he/she should be given a little more respect.
