Sour Cream Coffee Cake

1-1/4 cups sugar
1 cup butter or margarine
1 tsp. almond extract
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
nut toppings (see recipe below)
Confectioner's sugar

In a large bowl, cream together sugar and butter. Add almond extract, eggs and sour cream.

In a medium bowl sift together flour, baking powder and baking soda. add to creamed mixture and mix until very creamy.

                             
Nut Mixture
              
2 Tablespoons sugar
                  1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
                  1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Butter and flour a tube pan. Pour in 1/2 of the cake batter. Mix together the above nut ingredients and add 1/2 of the mixture around the batter. Pour remaining batter into pan and add the rest of nut mixture to top of batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour. While stillhot, sprinkle with confectioner's sugar.
