10 fun-size Milky Way candy bars, divided 1 pkg. Devil's food cake mix 1-1/3 cups buttermilk 3 eggs 1/3 cup oil, (canola) For lower-fat , replace oil with applesauce 3 Tbs. unsweetened cocoa powder 2 cans (16oz. each) vanilla frosting Additional milky way bars, sliced crosswise, optional
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coarsley chop 6 candy bars; set aside. Butter and flour 2 (8") round cake pans. In bowl with mixer at low speed beat cake mix with next 4 ingredients until combined. Increase speed to medium; beat 2 minutes. Pour 2 cups batter into each pan; top each with half of chopped candy. Top each pan with remaining batter. Bake 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted into cake centers comes out clean. Cool on rack 15 min. Remove from pans; cool on rack. Trim tops of cakes to level, if necessary. Place 1 cake layer on serving platter; spread top and sides with thin layer of frosting. Chop remaining candy bars; sprinkle over frosting. Top with remaining cake layer; spread top and sides of cake with thin layer of frosting. Refrigerate until frosting is firm, 20 min. Spread top and sides of cake with remaining frosting. Garnish with sliced candy, if desired. |
