Easy Onion-Cheese Bread 3/4 cup Onion, finely chopped 1 Tbs. Olive Oil 1-1/2 cups Buttermilk 1 large Egg, lightly beaten 1-1/2 cups Buscuit Baking Mix 1 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese, grated and divided 1/2 tsp. freshly ground Black Pepper 2 Tbs. Butter or Margarine, melted Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees and lightly grease a 9-inch round baking pan; set aside. Saute' the chopped onio in the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown; about 7 minutes. Set aside to cool. Blend together the buttermilk and egg in a large mixing bowl. Blend the biscuit mix, onion and about 1/2 cup of grated cheddar cheese. Pour the mixture into the baking pan. Sprinkle the remaining acheese and black pepper over the top of the mixture. Drizzle the top with the melted butter or margarine and bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden browm. Let cool slightly before cuttimg into pie-shaped wedges to serve warm. |
