SPIRITUAL POETRY
POEMS OF DAVID STOCKTON
"It is the Spirit of God that actively sustains every form and force in the universe; yet He is transcendental and aloof in the blissful uncreated void beyond the worlds of vibratory phenomena," Master explained.

"Saints who realize their divinity even while in the flesh know a similar twofold existence. Conscientiously engaging in earthly work, they yet remain immersed in an inward beatitude."

       JOURNEY REFLECTIONS
Soft shadows of approaching twilight,
Gentle winds whisper things past;
Poignant thoughts of time and memory,
As thin threads in floating patterns--
Each thread a path of distance run.

Some paths followed with joy,
Some trod where sadness reigned;
Some taken with uncertainty.
But as the journey turns homeward
On the path to finish this race,
There will be an unfailing light to guide...
And His welcome and warm embrace.

       AND I HEAR ANGELS SING
My mind a tangled cord,
  Bound in worry knots;
My trials tall as mountain peaks,
  Now shrunk to tiny dots.

I sit quieting my heart and breath,
  Behind closed eyes I find relief;
My focus on the point above
  As I find peace beyond belief.

I feel God's love and His concern
  For worries sorrows' bringing;
But now I'm in His joyful place--
  And I hear the angels singing.

Don't be bound by earth's things they sing,
  Your life's a test while on earth's sod;
Don't let worries bind your soul,
What matters most is you find God.

We've all passed through the same dark doors,
  But now we're free of worries clinging;
We're filled with love and peace and joy...
  And I hear the angels singing.

       TIME OUT
I need time to be alone each day,
Not lonely but alone with some space;
A time for me to think on things--
To reflect on how I'm keeping pace.

I want time out to remind myself
Who I am, and a sense of my being;
Time for silence and for thanksgiving
That my life is not a meaningless thing.

To recognize my guidance in life
Is wisdom from Spirit and from soul;
That I must live with the choices I've made,
Free from any outside control.

I want to reflect on meanings and values,
To Look inward to see if I'm progressing;
What are my thoughts, feelings, and actions?
Are they within reason? --or am I regressing?

I need time to think on all these things--
Time to set world's worries aside;
Time to look inward for intuition...
For guidance that will abide.

       PUGET SOUND SUNSET
       (Mission Beach, Everett WA)
Standing on the shore I watch
The sun's luminous arch grow smaller;
It dips below the feather-tipped trees
Lining the distand island's ridge.
The sky--a woven blend of colors,
Bathed in red and orange and purple hues--
Reflects a broad band of shimmering light
Reaching across the water
Touching the shore...and my soul.
In the quiet pause of eventide,
With wind stilled and water's waves calmed,
The Great Painter with love-filled strokes
Brushes His infinite canvas...
For a peaceful close to daylight's end.

       COME TO PEACE OF MIND
No sadder words either spoken or seen,
  Bitter words of pity and discord:
"If only" --or-- "What might have been,"
  Or the plaintive plea, "Why me Lord?"

Shut out bitterness and regrets,
  Close the door to mistakes past;
Nothing is gained by reliving old pain...
  Come to a place of relief to last
A place free from pain and sorrow,
  Where each morning means a new day:
Past mistakes are gone today and tomorrow,
  When peace of mind comes to stay.

Turn to Him that sustains your soul,
  You find past mistakes no longer commanding;
Now with wisdom to discern your goal--
  Have peace of mind beyond all understanding.
