Denniz PoP Remembered
1963-1998

The Music Industry lost one of it's great writer producers on August 30th 1998. Mr. Denniz PoP died at the young age of 35 leaving a girlfriend and 11 year old son Max behind.

Denniz Pop was born Dag Volle and started as a DJ in the early 80's and soon continued on with his own remixing company, Swemix. In the later parts of his life he had his own recording studio, Cheiron Studios, on Kungsholmen in Stockholm, Sweden. He has produced and has written songs for many of todays most popular artists. He has worked with the Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync, Five, Michael Jackson, 3T, Leila K, Herbie, E-Type, Robyn, Solid Harmonie and many more.

Denniz was diagnosed with cancer in December of 1997 and by February he was too sick to even go to the Grammy Awards (in Sweden) to collect the special award given to him and Max Martin. Many friend had recently come to say their good-byes and he passed away in his sleep on August 30th.

He teamed up with Maz Martin, Kristian Lundin and Herbie on many occasions to write and produce such hits as Ace of Base's "The Sign", Robyn's "Do you know (what it takes)", Five's "Slam Dunk (da funk)", 'N Sync's "I want you back" and many others.

He is also responsible for many of the Backstreet Boys greatest hits including We've Got It Goin' On, Quit Playin' Games, As Long As You Love Me and Everybody (Backstreet's Back). Other Denniz PoP Backstreet Boys songs include I Wanna Be with You, Nobody but You, That's the Way I Like It and 10,000 Promises. The last song Denniz worked on with the Backstreet Boys was Show Me The Meaning of Being Lonely. Their album Millennium, on which the song appeared, was dedicated to the memory of Denniz PoP and the music video includes many references to their great producer. In one scene AJ gets off the bus on the Denniz St stop. The Backstreet Boys also dedicated several awards they received to Denniz memory.

Truly one of the greatest producers of all time, he will be missed by friends and fans all over the world.
