| Sylvanus Bradfield Roudebush was born September 2, 1855 in Carroll, Ohio. He married Sarah Elizabeth "Lizzie" Easterday (born 1855, the daughter of William Strayer Easterday and Mary Armstrong) on September 24, 1879, in Carroll, Ohio. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Church. In 1889-1891, they moved to Indiana where he farmed for the rest of his life. Sylvanus died February 24, 1942. He and Lizzie are buried in the Oliphant Cemetery, near Freedom, Owen Co., Indiana. | Directions to Oliphant Cemetery: Traveling from Worthington to Freedom on US-231/IN-67 (9.2 mi.). As soon as you come into Freedom, turn right onto CR-590S. The cemetery is about 1 mile down that road. Go straight at the stop sign. The cemetery cannot be seen from the road. You will come to a white house on the right that looks like it was most likely a church at one time. Turn into the drive just before the house (there is a brown wood house there) and go left through the lane between the house and the barn. The cemetery is just beyond. |
