Story Outline - Subject to Change

1 Reader meets Ravvin, explaining the entire story to his journal as a flashback before murdering Levvin.

2 Ravvin explains his cons (and results), then his numerous goods (in writing)

3 Ravvin writes about Fallow, who joins up with Ravvin on Ravvin’s roof. (Nosebleed)

4 Rosie and Levvin conversing about their wants (cooking)
introduces characters

5 Kamelin is introduced, being beaten in the “bottle field”. He escapes the fight by standing under a bright street lamp by Black Fox Tavern

6 Rosí is in the tavern; Kamelin enters, meets Rosí, and she helps him
- Fallow and Ravvin meet Kamelin,
- Fallow and Kamelin converse,
- Rosie and Ravvin converse

7 Ravvin hanging around a banquet in a line by the crowd,
- Levvin is doing public relations, at a table
- they see each other in the crowd
- Ravvin gives up a woman who had crush on him to dance with Levvin
- Levvin finds out who he is in the line by the crowd
- he throws her an address, and then Ravvin is drawn away by the line of people

8 Ravvin writes about his thoughts on Levvin (in the tub; nosebleed)

9 Rosie and Levvin discuss their views on romance (Levvin in tub, Rosie reading)

10 Kamelin is beaten up badly, (at work)
- gets death threat, is thrown at Fallow’s door

11 Fallow learns Kamelin’s story (at Fallow’s table)
- Kamelin and Fallow ahve a game of cards and become close friends

12 Levvin appears at Ravvin’s house the next night, (through the backyard)
- Ravvin and Levvin become romantically involved. Ravvin has a nosebleed (in his room)

13 Ravvin, writing: harks back to the problems in previous relationships:
- selfishness
- spiking drinks
- too many drinks
- kinky things
- submissive
- talks too much
- talks too little
- too matter-of-fact
- is a man

14 Next morning:
- Fallow and Ravvin both find each other to “have someone” (meeting at Ravvin’s door) Fallow and Kamelin insist they are only friends
- The four head out to “celebrate” (and corrupt Levvin a little) Kamelin warns her about where the group is heading, (trespassing in old buildings with black market stuff)
- she goes anyway

15 Ravvin and Levvin go to Levvin’s house,
- Ravvin spends the night (they learn more about each other. This is in Levvin’s attic).

16 next morning: Rosie comes in, Levvin leaves Ravvin in the attic (Levvin did not tell Rosie about her “company”)
- Rosie sees positive change in Levvin, Rosie leaves (entry hall)

17 Ravvin’s Nosebleeds stop (he is in bed)

18 Rosie finds Farfalla the cat under a bridge

19 Fallow notices positive changes in Ravvin (at the Black Fox Tavern)
- Rosie comes in with Farfalla
- Kamelin, Fallow, and Rosie talk about Farfalla
- Fallow admits to Kamelin about a loss in gambeling
- Kamelin lets him stay in an “extra room”
- Ravvin arrives
- Rosie calls Levvin to pick up Farfalla. Levvin can’t, she’s expecting an interview, Rosie asks Fallow and Kamelin to watch the tavern for a few minutes, then leaves to drop off Farfalla

20 Levvin meets Farfalla
- business person comes, Rosie goes back out, business person brings up Ravvin negatively, Levvin defends him. This is in Levvin’s parlor

21 Rosie telling Ravvin about Levvin (Ravvin says she sounds hard to deal with)

22 Fallow and Kamelin muttering about moving, job schedule, money

23 Ravvin writes about Rosie in general (on his roof)

24 Ravvin’s “Come with me if you want to see,” note written in blank verse. Levvin responds: “If I taste to taste, then I do want.” (Through her window)
- At the Ochre Thorn (opium den) change to rhyming verse during “dream”
- Levvin puts a bottle cap in flirtatious woman’s shoe at table (same woman from the dance)

25 Levvin realizes how many people have the potential to steal Ravvin from her (she is by her window)

26 Kamelin and Fallow get ready move into a more accomodating facility (in Kamelin’s entry hall)
- Fallow holds a photography session with Kamelin
- Kamelin and Fallow become romantically involved

27 They four visit a taxidermist
- Levvin sees flirtatious woman pass by, they talk about her (she stands at the display window)

29 Rosie and Levvin talk about Farfalla (in their room)

30 Ravvin, Kamelin, and Fallow teach Levvin about cons (Ravvin writes abou it)

31 Levvin approaches the woman from the taxidermist to “ask for change” (she’s waiting for a taxi)
- woman recognize her as Ravvin’s girlfriend
- woman admits to liking Ravvin
- woman gets in taxi
- Levvin asks which direction she going. Woman is going the same way

32 Levvin shows Rosie the taxidermy place
- Rosie pretends to find it fascinating, but hates it, leaves
- Levvin buys embalming salt
- Levvin remembers the woman’s dog, finds a look-alike from “half-off” section

33 grinds some salt into fine powder at house
- “edits” the new taxidermy so it looks like the lady's dog
- plans to watch the woman’s schedule
- breaks into woman’s house
- frees the womans dog, and replaces it with the taxidermy that looks like him
- puts salt in woman’s bed sheets (it’s powdered, so she doesn’t notice ‘til late at night)

34 Rosie can’t sleep, Rosie and Levvin discuss cons, Levvin’s boss apparently pulled one on Rosie

35 Levvin sends an unbearable amount of tabloid subscriptions to her boss (sees “free subscription” in grocery store, fills it out with his address)

36 all avenge Kamelin’s beating:
- all are in line for a play, then they see the suspected people,
- everyone watchesthe play, waits it out, and try to stay in the light,
- the suspects follow the others, they all get lost, Kamelin knows the area, and leads them on to the Hanging Forest
- Fallow defends Kamelin, and makes a final threat: Fallow pulls out gun (not loaded), makes the bad people stay in one spot until out the others have walked out of view

37 once in the city’s light, everyone is calmer. they head home, Kamelin tells Ravvin to slow down with Levvin

38 Levvin and Ravvin roof sitting on theatre, views on life and death
- Levvin shows Ravvin piano music in empty theatre

39 (at the Black Fox Tavern) Rosie and Kamelin talk about Farfalla fantastically, and relate her to other people,
- Ravvin comes in, Fallow looking for a job,
- the three talk fantastically,
- Rosie fills Ravvin’s head with dreams about life

40 Kamelin’s house: all with costume design and photography
- the guys teach Levvin drink mixing and magic tricks (in the parlor)

41 Levvin shows designs to business men, is humiliated (sponsor’s office)

42 Rosie and Levvin reviewing businessmen’s actions at art show, (wax figures section)
- make up revenge for fun

43 Revenge done: Levvin puts wax everywhere in businessman’s house before guests arrive

44 Levvin shows up uninvited to Ravvin attempting to con Levvin’s enemy in business (pretend he’s interested in using costumes for indy film)
- she sees a “flirtatious” woman,
- she drops a coin off building, and nails the woman in the head (using knowledge of magic tricks)
- Ravvin gets caught in the con, is conned, (business guy knows Levvin, Ravvin takes him outside)
- Levvin hears Ravvin, and finds him
- Levvin threatens the businessmen, they don’t believe her
- her boss did not know she was there, leaves
- they all leave, “tell know one”
- Ravvin inquires, Levvin explains
- Levvin inquires, Ravvin explains (boss is disgusting)
- Levvin is disgusted, they agree on disgust, Ravvin apologizes

45 Levvin rings bell at midnight (business person: is connection to Ravvin) strangle (in costume)

46 Levvin stops by Rosie’s tavern
- Rosiewants to discuss Levvin’s odd behavior

47 writing about Ravvin is quitting the con business and stick to writing (Ravvin’s parlor)
- Ravvin gets too many letters
- Fallow sees a negative change in Ravvin, but says they’ll always be close
- that causes Ravvin to see change in Levvin

48 Ravvin writes on the topic

49 Ravvin and Levvin talk about going to the place the met at (phone)
- before Ravvin arrives, Levvin poisons her company’s drinks, she passes a false check (after realizing all the people might be linked to Ravvin)passes a note to the serving staff saying don’t open this drink until certain time, dedicate that drink to business, have it on the house so every one gets one free

50 Ravvin arrives,
- (while Ravvin and Levvin are dancing in a crowd) Levvin asks Ravvin not to drink so his “heart and body are pure”. she doesn’t drink either.
- a toast, (once at the table)
- after a certain time, many guests feel sick (appear unwell)
- Levvin is perplexed, the poison was supposed to affect them much later
- Levvin tells Ravvin she isn’t feeling well
- they try to leave, but are asked to stay a bit longer
- many asked to be excused, can’t make it out the door, in the bathroom, hallucinate, can’t breathe, faint, begin to drop like flies
- Ravvin and Levvin are two of the few left standing,
- Ravvin pulls her out, they stop on a bench
- Ravvin mortified, asks if Levvin is okay (they are in a snowy park)
- Levvin blathering admitting,
- Ravvin realizes details, doesn’t know what to do,
- they fall asleep

51 Ravvin wakes up, confused, scared,
- ponders over whether to leave her asleep in the park or not,
- decides to leave, and writes a note telling her to not be afraid

52 Makes THE decision of murder and suicide (tub)

53 Ravvin, Levvin, Kamelin, Rosie, and Fallow all end up at Rosie & Levvin’s house
- Ravvin is meeting Levvin
- Kamelin and Fallow are going with Rosie to talk about how all stores are closed. Fallow and Kamelin learned from trying to visit café nearby, downtown blocked by investigation, police are looking for Ravvin’s girlfriend, couldn’t believe it, followed pattern, all roads to Ravvin’s girlfriend, Rosie had not heard about the details,
- they arrive at house, Fallow and Kamelin astounded that Levvin is Rosie’s room mate,
- Rosie astounded that she didn’t know who Ravvin’s girlfriend was, and Levvin didn’t tell her who her boyfriend was. Ravvin is very popular, so Rosie is surprised Levvin never said his name.
- Levvin is surprised Rosie knows Fallow, Kamelin, and Ravvin
- Fallow, Ravvin, and Kamelin leave room to let them argue
- Rosie leaves because she does not know Levvin as well as she thought
- Fallow goes to talk to Rosie
- Kamelin stays to talk to Levvin and Ravvin, interrogation of Levvin
- they go through how to have Ravvin and Levvin escape the town
- Ravvin dismisses Kamelin. Ravvin says “he already knows how to escape”
- Kamelin leaves to find Fallow and Rosie
- Levvin and Ravvin sit in silence (nosebleed)
- Levvin learns change in Ravvin “knew there was something”
- Levvin feels hopeless
- Ravvin walks out

54 Rosie has left Fallow to think.
- Fallow and Kamelin argue about Ravvin and Levvin,
- Kamelin says he can’t be with Fallow if he remains friends with Ravvin, that only bad will come of it, (under the street lamp in the beginning)
- Fallow can’t believe it, and loses it, says he can’t choose, Kamelin says “let you think on it”
- Fallow says go home, wait for me

55 Fallow finds Ravvin, Ravvin is apathetic, (on his roof)
- Ravvin tells him to go with Kamelin, Fallow is understanding,

56 Fallow returns to Kamelin (at their house)

57 Ravvin writes to self that he sent farewell letters earlier, after he left Levvin on the bench in the park. The mail should get to everyone around 11:45
- Levvin gets call from Ravvin, saying how they are going to “leave together”. Levvin wants to wait for Rosie to get her things at 11:30. Ravvin tells Levvin to hurry, it’s 11:17 now
- (return to present, finish writing) Ravvin waits by his door
- Levvin comes in, Ravvin says: “be you again, please, be my love again”
- memories flash by
- Ravvin stabs Levvin

58 Rosie returns to gather things, finds Levvin is gone, but begins packing anyway
- mail flies through slot. Farfalla hisses, sniffs letter, rubs face against it. Rosie catches name and reads, (in entry hall)
- calls Ravvin, hangs up early, says “let him go”
- looks up Kamelin’s #, tells him to get mail, get Fallow, read letter, and asks what his address is
- heads over.

59 Fallow called Ravvin’s house, no one answered
- They read, (parlor)
- They wait for the clock to strike 12. (On big city clock, pocket watch, mantel clock)

60 Ravvin on his balcony, watching clock “I know they’re watching me”
- jumps at 12:00
