...A week in the life of.....CONTINUED

..we stumbled across a country hotel, negotiated a reduced rate for drowned cyclists and had a wonderful evening meal and a few glasses of wine in front of a real log fire! (The owner left us to it with the bar keys!)

Saturday 10th November - Rakaia Gorge to Geraldine (49 miles)

-cooked breakfast - marvellous!
- stopped for a cuppa at around twenty miles and another cyclist pulled into the cafe. Patrick, from London, introduced himself and was cycling around the south island whilst in NZ visiting friends. However, didn't want to cycle with us, so we carried on to our destination alone.
- arrived in Geraldine around 3.30pm and checked into a motel - paying an extra GBP2.50 for a room with a bath - a luxury we haven't had for weeks! The room was brand new and GBP19 for the night!
- went out for dinner and had a couple of beers in the local pub type thing ( reminds us we are missing a proper British pub)
