Finding her father's lifeless — and bloodless — body puts her on the warpath. Because of what Angel is and his failure to save her father, Kate struggles with their relationship. Armed with the knowledge of Angel's evil past, she hurls her hate and frustration against him every chance she gets. Obsessed with getting rid of "his kind," Kate is the first to investigate any calls that match the "other worldly" profile. While she endures the jokes and strange looks from her fellow police officers, Kate has learned a few things along the way. She has developed a dislike for Wolfram & Hart and the "special" clients the firm represents. No longer is there an attraction for Angel or any semblance of their prior understanding; instead, Kate's insistence has driven Angel to declare battle against his former ally. Once she got Angel's challenge, Kate seemed to regret it. There is still a chance to take back the past, but it will have to be up to Kate. She must come to terms if he is to be a trusted and valuable ally or is he just another demon in the shadows of her own battle against the forces of darkness, saving those innocents caught in the crossfire?
