You are about to begin a WebQuest to learn about Native Americans' daily lives and customs.  A Webquest is a journey (or a quest) which takes you to different places and times in history-- all on the world wide web! On your Webquest you will travel back in time to see what life was like for a group of the First Americans.

Your task is to research a region with your partners and to demonstrate several aspects of its Native Americans' daily activities and culture. You will research, plan & create a Powerpoint slide, and complete a Research Cube.  You will share this information with your class, and it may also be published on our school's website in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.

DAY 1:  GETTING FAMILIAR WITH THE PROJECT & YOUR REGION
1.  You will work with a tribe of 2 or 3, as arranged by the chief (your teacher.) Your tribe will be assigned a region to research.

2.  Together with your tribe, print out 1
blank map and color the approximate region that you have been assigned.  Use the Regional Map link on the Resources page to help you.  List the states that make up your region.

3.  On the side of your map, your group will write a list of about 10 tribes that were native to that region.  Use the
Tribes by Region link on the Resources page to help you.

4.  Your tribe must print out one
Information Chart.  Your tribe will meet to determine which member will be in charge of each topic.

5.  Use scissors to cut the information chart into 6 topics.  Each person in the group must complete TWO or THREE (depending on the number in your group) topics of the information chart.

6.  Use the Resources page of this WebQuest to link to information to complete your topic sections.
THE INFORMATION THAT YOU LOCATE MUST BE ACCURATE FOR THE SPECIFIC REGION THAT YOU WERE ASSIGNED!!!

DAY 2 & DAY 3  RESEARCH DAYS

4. Each member will work individually to complete 2 research sections.  You will use the websites linked in the Resources section of this Webquest to help you to complete your topic sections.
REMEMBER:  You must NOT copy information word-for-word from the website, but you may take notes to answer the chart's questions in your own words.

5.  Once you've completed your research,, you will create a
Story Board for each topic. A Story Board is like a rough draft for a PowerPoint slide that you will create next. Your Story Board must answer your Information Chart questions.

DAY 4 & DAY 5
6.  Once you have finished your research and you have created a Story Board plans, you will publish your information to a Power Point slide. Your slide must contain the topic's title, accurate information in your own words, and it must be neat, attractive, and informative.  You may include clip art, colorful background or font, photographs, etc.  Keep in mind that the purpose of this slide is to share information with your audience.  Your text must be easy to read, and not too fancy or cluttered.

7.  When your slide is complete, you must save it in the appropriate student folder, as instructed by the chief.
