Armour competition is conducted using specially padded weapons spicifically to The Order's specifications. All weapons must pass inspection by the supervising marshal. When properly made these weapons should deliver a solid blow without causing bruising. Competition is conducted on a graduated scale with a value designated to each form of armour. A competitor must be wearing at least 75% of the designated armour to achieve the armour value. Minimum Armour - Value 1
2. Gorget neck and shoulder protection. 3. Elbow and knees pads. 4. Heavy gloves. 5. Genital area protection. (athletic cup) 6. All shield edges must be covered with rubber hose and ¾" pipe insulation. Maximum wood size 24"x 36". Shield must be authentic shape. 7. Kidney protection. This is typically accomplished by using a wide weight lifter's belt. 8. A padded gambeson is recommended.

Maximum shields size is 24"x 36" Please note that any form of authentic plate armour which accomplishes this task of protecting the body can be used. For example, a coat of plates would be acceptable as opposed to a breastplate. High Impact Competition An added category of combat competition is that of High Impact where a solid rattan sword is used. The ONLY weapons allowed in this category are swords. Minimum sword length is 24", maximum sword length is 48". Minimum diameter of the rattan sword is to be 1 ¼ ". A basket hilt, or steel gauntlet will be used. All swords will be thoroughly taped with fabric reinforced tape. (Duct Tape) All competitors in High Impact competition must have armour that meets or exceeds Plate Armour. 2. The competitor's value is the number of blows that are nessary for the individual to be eliminated. (If an individual's armour value or rating is 3, then would have to recieve 3 blows to be elemitated from compitition.) 3. Individuals should be able to "call" the blows that they receive. When they are struck for the first time they should call out "one". They should continue to count until they have recieved the total value of their armour and they are elimitated. (A theatrical collapse to the ground is always in style.) 4. All knights should be able to call their own blows. Marshals can be appealed to in a disagreement. Marshals can also note if a blow was struck with the side of the blade as opposed to the edge. Marshals also will typically call the blows for those under the age of 18. 5. Chivalry will be exhibited at all times.

II. Upon the command "ready" from the marshal, each combatant will tap their own sheild with their own implement to signify readiness. III. Typical call to battle is as follows: "Salute the Crown (Highest Peer present) salute the lady you do battle for, salute your most worthy opponet, lay on." IV. A blow to the knees or lower results in disqualification. V. Combatants must remain in the list. VI. Marshal has final say in all matters.
The Melee' is a team event which can be contested as in capture the flag. Rules of Contest
II. Marshals will have total authority to disqualify any combatant for any inappropriate behavior, striking below thighs or unchivalrous behavior. III. Each team, with its flag, will line up at opposite ends of the field. IV. The combatant begins upon the blowing of the horn by a herald or judge. V. Warriors exchange blows until each receives blows equal to his armour value, at which time he is eliminated. Eliminated combatants must immediately exit the field. VI. No hand to hand or grappling allowed. VII. First team to eliminate all opponents or to capture the opposing teams flag and return it to their own lines will be deemed the winners. A time limit can be placed on this event. ![]() A bridge is marked off by two rows of hay bails forming a "bridge" 10-25' wide and 30-75' long. Each team advances from an opposite end. Any warrior that steps off the bridge is elimnated. last team standing wins. ![]() A portal or doorway is made from 4x4 posts set into the ground 5-15 feet apart. This portal represents an entrance into a castle. One team can be defending the portal and the other team attacking, or each team can advance from 25' away and meet at the portal. Attacks can only be made through the portal. (Imagine an invisible wall going off from each side of the portal.) Last team standing wins. ![]()
