A Basic Format for Household Court

1. Opening
All should find their place to sit before the official opening of Court. The Head of Household should be the last to enter. When he enters all should rise and wait until he is seated before they sit. The Head of Household will announce that he is holding court and that court has begun. It would be appropriate to have a noble open court with prayer.

2. Court report
The court report may include a financial report, a report on the last meeting or activity, and any other business the Head of Household would like to discuss.

3. Discussion of new business
New business generally refers to any and all business that does not come from the Head of Household. This could include plans for an upcoming event, formal recognition of those advancing from page to squire (all other formal advancements take place at the Head of State's Court), presentation of poems, songs, or other advancement related activities that must be presented at court, and all discussion no matter how exciting or mundane.

4. Instruction
Court is an appropriate place for brief presentations on “how to”. Almost any guild subject could be presented.

5. Work time
Work time is when planning is done for upcoming events. Members might break up into small groups to work on the passing of advancements or to discuss specific assignments for an upcoming event.

6. Devotions
Every Court should end with a devotion. It is recommended that a variety of people share devotions in the Household so that it is not the same person at each court. (This is an advancement requirement also.)
