Household Meetings

The household is the basic club unit of The Royal Order of Chivalry. As such a household will meet at least once a month, and can meet as often as is practical for the members.

Meetings tend to fall into specific types. Following are examples and instructions for the most common meeting formats.

Household Court
The Household Court is the equivalent of a formal business meeting. As such, it is intended to be a very formal occasion observing all the pomp and dignity that The Royal Order of Chivalry has to offer. The Household Court is a very important function. Visitors get a chance to see The Royal Order of Chivalry at its best and as such the Household Court should always be formal and thoroughly in the proper decorum.

A typical room set up for Household Court will took as follows:

Each, table is your typical 3' by 8' folding table that is found at most churches. All seating is done on the outside so that all can face in. The Head of Household sits at the head table. The Household Staff, (the marshal, herald, clerk, historian, and , guild leaders), sit immediately to his right and left. All nobles, that is knights and lords are seated next. Squires and pages fill in the remaining seats. Although this might appear as a carnal show of preference to some, it is based on spiritual principles. (i.e. Romans 13:7, Luke 14:7-15) This seating structure also serves as a motivational tool encouraging pages to complete their work and advance in the Royal Order of Chivalry.

As a format court, the decorum should be formal as well. The tables should be covered with tablecloths, lighting should be strictly candlelight, and all members should be wearing suitable costuming for court.
