Privileges of Advancement

The Knight Bachelor is entitled to wear his own Coat-of-Arms. This is a very important step in The Royal Order of Chivalry. The granting of Knighthood takes place at State Court and is officiated by the Head of State. It is at this ceremony that the squire publicly wears his surcoat for the first time. As part of the ceremony, they are granted the right to a red belt. Knight Bachelors are further granted the right to wear gold or gilt spurs.
