Range Rules apply to all events where any kind of “missile” is shot, thrown, cast, catapulted etc.
2. The range marshal will have complete authority to open, close, or limit the use of the range. 3. The range will have two conditions, hot and cold. Hot means that the range is open for practice and competition. Arrows, spears, javelins or such can be used according to the purpose of the range. Cold means that the range is closed. All arrows, spears, javelins or such must be set down. Any notched arrows must be removed from the bow or crossbow. 4. Anyone can call for a cold range when a hazardous situation is detected. 5. Only the range marshal can call for a hot range. 6. The retrieval of missiles will only be allowed when the range marshal has called for a cold range, the marshal concluded that the range is safe, and the marshal has announced that missiles can be retrieved. All those wishing to retrieve missiles must first check in with the range marshal, and then upon completion of retrieving missiles must again notify the range marshal that he has returned. This is very important so that the range marshal can verify that everyone who went down range has returned to the firing line. Any missiles that have not been found within the cold range retrieval period must be sought at subsequent cold range retrieval periods or when the range is closed. 7. Bows and such are to be shot only at official targets and only at the range. 8. A Royal Order of Chivalry Tournament Card will be issued upon the successful memorization and explanation of the range rules. Endorsements will be added to the card for each area of competition that the individual qualifies for.
