All impact events will be supervised by an official marshal. All armor requirements and safety procedures will be enforced. It is not usually the marshal’s job to determine who the winner is or who landed a blow, but rather, it is his assignment to see that the event is conducted in a safe manner for both competitors and the bystanders. The marshal shall carry a Marshal’s Staff. This staff is typically six feet long painted with spirals stripes of bright colored streamers attached to it’s head. The purpose of the staff is to separate combatants when needed. This can be accomplished by shaking the staff between the combatants.
