Bandai Remember when Bandai was only Power Rangers. Thank GOD someone in Bandai caught on that not all anime fans in the US are under the age of 12. Gundam is EVERYWHERE, and new offerings like the 'Anime Collectors Series' are slowly creeping into stores. 1. Gundam; need you ask? 'G-Gundam' makes it's way into the US with 4 1/2" figures galore. Ok, ok, so this series is like 'Soul Calibre' meets 'Gundam.' Still, the trade-mark articulation and accessories make it worth it. And besides, I think the Shining-Gundam figure looks pretty cool. So there. 2. Power Rangers; and Wild Force goes into full swing in the US. MORE figures, MORE robots, MORE... oh god, THE HUMANITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Granted, the toys are actually pretty cool (case in point, the Ultrazord I reviewed) but maybe it's time to tinker with the line a bit? Bandai is working on a new toy-line for the umpteenth version of Power Rangers which should be out in March. We'll see if some new life can be breathed into this line. 3. Anime Collectors Series; more offerings from anime nuts out there. Unfortunately, the smaller 'people' figures packaged here aren't articulated. Still, the vehicles/robots that they come with are well done. And best of all, you can finally get 'The Big O' and 'Cowboy Beebop' on your shelf. |
