Wow, some year. Well, so far, a nice, peaceful start... unless you're a college football fan, then you're gnashing your teeth. Anyway, here are a few wishes for 2002...
1. NO MORE SUPER BOWL HYPE. Amazing, the pre-game shows are longer then the game itself. Oh, you didn't know there WAS a game buried in there?
2. Keep the animation rolling. 'Shrek.' 'Monsters Inc.' 'Final Fantasy.' ... ok, notthe best example, but you get the idea. Hmmmmmm... not a single musical number with obligatory dance sequence in EITHER of them.(No, the end of 'Shrek' with 'I'm a Believer' doesn't count. It was COOL.) Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease let STORY-TELLING continue in animation.
3. THE ENTIRE STAR WARS TRILOGY ON DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know, I know, it's coming... but might as well start begging now.
4. More cool action-figure movie tie-ins. 'Crouching Tiger.' 'The Matrix.' 'Lord of the Rings.' Please, don't break the streak.
5. Another Alex Ross/Paul Dini project. I know, you guys are done... but the entire run has been AMAZING; thought-provoking stories that aren't preachy, art that is devastating, done on a medium that is perfect for the stories that you're telling.
6. JLA Vs. Avengers. Oh... waitaminute... this actually IS happening. Woohoo.
7. Put the entire 'Batman-The Animated Series' on DVD. It's either that or keep TALKING about another Batman movie with the rest of Hollywood going 'Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure.'
8. More Transformers by Takara!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, come on guys. Super Fire Convoy. Gigatron. WEB DIVER???!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! You're killing us over here!!!!!
9. Speaking of college football; JUST GIVE US A STINKING PLAYOFF ALREADY. No more whining, no more 'Hey, WE woulda done better.' Here's the play-off whining; You loose, you SUCK, SIT DOWN and SHUT UP, AND YOU'RE GONNA LIKE IT. So there.
10. Peace on Earth. Hey, you gotta hope...
