What is Taekwon-Do?

Taekwon-do is a martial art based on self defense that combines
movements with your hands and feet.

"Tae" meaning jumping or flying, to kick or smash with the foot.

"Kwon" denotes the fist - to punch or destroy with the hand or fist.

"Do" meaning the art, techniques or method of both.

History of Taekwon-Do

Although Taek Kyon has been around for over 1,300 years,
modern Taekwon-do was conceived by General Choi, Hong Hi in 1955,
with the development of the patterns for each belt level.
Each level's patterns are named after historical Korean events or figures
and the 24 patterns represent the 24 hours in a day. General Choi is a
9th Degree Black Belt.
