Once at a concert, Flansburgh stepped on a beehive and suddenly there was an angry swarm of killer bees. The band got stung all over their bodies. Flansburgh got stung in the white part of his eye and also on his tongue. Linnell got stung in the back of his throat from a bee that flew into his open, screaming mouth. Another bee stung him in his jugular vein. Eventually, they both died from bee sting toxin.
