Linnell's ears got cut off by a window pane section and he was running around holding the sides of his head with his hands. Flansburgh's jaw was severed by a broken beer bottle and he had half a face and he couldn't even scream. They both died from loss of blood, in extreme pain, and hideously disfigured.
