Exercise 13: Creating a CD label using a table.

Create a table for the front of the CD case by completing the following steps:
1. Click Table, point to Insert, and then click Table.
2. Create a table with one column and one row.
3. Position the insertion point inside the table, click Table, and then click Table Properties.
4. At the Table Properties dialog box, click the Center option in the Alignment section of the Table tab, and then click the Borders and Shading button.
5. At the Borders and Shading dialog box, choose the Borders tab, and then click the
6. Box button in the Setting section. Make sure a single ½ point black line displays around the table.
7. Choose the Shading tab and click the More Colors button.
8. At the Standard tab, select the Ivory color located below the center white hexagon; then click OK. Click OK again to close the Borders and Shading dialog box.
9. Choose the Row tab, click the check box at the left of Specify height: in the Size section, and key 4.75 inches. The Row height should display At least.
10. Choose the Column tab, click the check box at the left of Preferred width, key 5 inches, and then click OK. 
11. With the insertion point positioned inside the table, insert the WordArt text.
     a. At the WordArt Gallery, click the WordArt style in the third row and third column, and then click OK.
     b. At the Edit WordArt Text dialog box, key Desktop Designs in the Text box, and then click OK.
     c. Drag the WordArt text to a position similar to figure 4.3.
     e. Select Desktop Designs and click the Format WordArt button on the WordArt toolbar.
     f. At the Format WordArt dialog box, click the down arrow at the right of the Color list box in the Fill section, and then click the More Colors button at the bottom of the color palette.
     g. At the Colors dialog box, choose the Standard tab, select the green color six down from the top on the left side of the color hexagon, and then click OK.
     h. Change the Line Color to the same green as above, and then click OK.
     i. Click the Shadow button on the Drawing toolbar and click the Shadow Settings button at the bottom of the shadow palette.
     j. Click the down arrow at the right of the Shadow Color button. Make sure the Semitransparent Shadow button is selected and click the More Shadow Colors button.
     k.  Select the same green as above, and then click OK.
13. Insert the clip art image shown in figure 4.3.
14. Select the image, click the Text Wrapping button on the Picture toolbar, click In Front of Text, and then move and size the image similar to figure.


Create another table for the back of the CD case by completing the following steps:
1) Press Ctrl + Enter to create a hard page break. (Look at the Status Bar to make sure your insertion point is located on the second page.)
2) Create a table with two columns and one row.
3) At the Table Properties dialog box, click the Center option in the Alignment section of the Table tab, and then click the Borders and Shading button.
4) At the Borders and Shading dialog box, make sure a single ½ point black line displays in and around the table (select All), and add the same Ivory shading as used on the front of the CD case label.
5) There is no step 5 , ha
6) Choose the Row tab, click the check box at the left of Specify height: in the Size section, and key 4.65 inches. The Row height should display at least.
7) Choose the Column tab, click the check box at the left of Preferred width, key 5.35 inches, and then click the Next Column button.
8) Key 0.18 inch in the Column 2 Preferred width text box.
9) Choose the Cell tab, select Center in the Vertical alignment section, and then click OK.
10) Click the Text Box button on the Drawing toolbar, drag the crosshairs into the first cell, and create a text box approximately 1-1/2” Height by 3-1/2” Width.
13) Click the Center align button, change the font to 12-pointArial bold, italic, press Enter, and then key Your name. Press Enter twice, turn off italic, and then key Course name and number.
14) Press Enter twice and then key Your e-mail address. Press Enter twice, turn on italic, and then key the Current date.

Exercise 14-18:
Create five different CD covers. Each should have it's own unique design.
Just a thought, Burn some CD's create the covers and give to others as a gift. If you want to use them as gifts we can print them in class.
