NOVEMBER 2004 LAB . SCHEDULE

Due to the Half day schedule on October 29th 2005, we will have to make up Lab. #6 on November 1st, 2005.

November 4th, 2005:

(a) Diffusion Through a Membrane

You will be able to test for Sugar and Starch movement through a Membrane, using Indicator solutions. November 11th, 2005:

(a) Osmosis

You will be able to see the effects of Salt through a cell membrane.

Recall: Plasmolysis-- Movement of salt through a membrane.

Hypertonic and Hypotonic Solutions.

Make sure you review what happens to the cell membrane in each type of solution.

(a) Measuring Pulse Rate

In this Lab. you will learn how to measure and record your Pulse Rate both before and after an excercise session. Predict what the rates would be before and after?

November 23rd, 2005:

(a) Muscle Fatique

In this Lab. you will be squeezing a clothes pin and record the number of times you can sqeez it in a minute. You will also be able to do this excercise twice using the same hand as the first. Why do you feel tired after the first try? How can the second try be affected if your muscles are tired?
