• Designed web site for the DoD’s Office of Family Policy’s Family Action Program Management

• Designed interface and Flash-based manual for World Health Organization’s Introduction to
Managing Childhood Illnesses instructional CD.

• Designed and provided animation sequences for "Number 2" cartoon pencil character for the
National Development Council’s CBT-based low-income housing development training.

• Won Apex ’97 Awards for Cartooning, Illustration, and Design Excellence for work on the best-selling
financial advice book by Ric Edelman, The Truth About Money, and The Edelman Advisor.

• Designed web site for the Northstar Funds Group, www.northstarfunds.com.

• Created cartoons and illustrations for the AOL site Ric Edelman’s Money University, and the
NET TV show of the same name.

• Won Maryland-DC-Delaware Press Association "Best of Show" and "First Place for Category" awards
for cartoons created for Washington Times classified promotions.

• Won Federal Government Blue Pencil Award for cartoons for Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board.

• Produced complex animation sequence for videodisc instruction package of Singer Corporation’s JTIDS aircraft defense radar system in 6 weeks.

Selected by major TV station as staff artist for Emmy Award—winning children’s show. Created effective
studio sets and props under extreme deadline pressures, sometimes as short as 30 minutes.

Project Management

Headed up Northstar Fund web site design project (team of three), from ISP selection to storyboarding, quality control, testing, coding, and implementation.

Using aerospace advocacy contacts, took initiative for successful public relations efforts and was responsible for desktop publishing and production management for the Single-Stage Rocket Technology (SSRT) Program and the Clementine Deep Space Mission of the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization at the Pentagon.

• Designed and implemented indexing system for NASA Space Station Program Office (SSPO) documentation graphics. Expanded SSPO’s design and reprographics department and established new procedures to meet extremely tight turnaround demands (often one hour) for presentation graphics.

Assisted in design of database management system for NASA’s Code O Reimbursable Tracking System. Did primary data gathering. Also provided graphics and documentation to define work flow requirements.

Saved publisher of 300,000-circulation weekly tabloid $50,000 a year in production costs by negotiating new print contract and by convincing publisher to make publication production equipment upgrades. Reduced deadline time to printer by 5 hours a week and mailing time by 1 full day a week.

Professional services clients, Pentagon contracts, and Documentation Support Center. Illustrated company publications and deliverables as staff artist/cartoonist. Graphics and Composition Supervisor

Supervised staff in production of publications, presentation graphics, and proposals
for contracts with USAID, EPA, DOE, U.S. Postal Service, and U.S. Forest Service.
Was responsible for all new software evaluation, vendor liaison, staff and freelancer
evaluation and training, and supply and equipment inventory and acquisition. Position
was eliminated in June 1990.

1988—89 HBH Communications, Inc., Rockville, MD–Shift Supervisor

Produced ads and newsletters. Supervised second shift, including all equipment/system maintenance.

1988 Barrios Technology, Reston, VA–Documentation Services Supervisor, NASA SSPO

Supervised staff of 10 to produce all documentation for SSPO. Was responsible for all vendor liaison, equipment acquisition, and employee evaluation and training. Contract ended in August 1988.

Clients included IBM, the American Institutes of Research, Orbital Sciences Corporation,
Singer Corporation, SRA Technologies, Inc., and the Washington Times.

1983—85 Carver Photocomposition, Inc., Arlington, VA–Shift Supervisor

Managed shift and supervised staff. Handled disc conversions; telecommunications; large book jobs
on automated typesetting system; type processing; and camera, equipment, and system maintenance.

1980—83 Bowne Information Systems, Washington, DC–Customer Service Representative

Was responsible for consulting for contracts with U.S. EPA, NRC, DOE, State of Maryland Highway Commission, and U.S. Department of Labor. Conducted word processing training.

Supervised staff of six artists, typesetters, and photographers in prepress production of weekly tabloid, mailers, books, and collateral material. Negotiated printing contracts, did on-site print quality control, was in charge of equipment acquisition, and worked closely with direct mail staff.
