Robin Richard Emrich

Robin Richard Emrich was born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 22nd,1954.
The focus of his earlier artwork has been on the city of Boston and its
environs. Preliminary work was self-taught and utilized pen and ink and
cro-quill in documenting Boston with drawings of the cityscape, the Public
Gardens, the Esplanade and Beacon Hill. During the seventies he could be
spotted in these locals with sketch book in hand and a bottle of ink stand-
ing by the ready. A business degree was obtained during the eighties which
has allowed the artist enough financial freedom to rekindle his artistic
initiatives under his own terms (i.e. without starving) Beginning formal
artistic training in the fall of 1995, at Montserrat's School of Visual Art,
the artist has transcribed his earlier works using the etching intaglio
process under the tutelage of Robert Beauvais and Haig Demarjian. The
artist is currently refining his use of the etching process as he explores
new subjects from within the local settings of the North Shore. Use of
an "Open Bite" juxtaposed on detail line drawings is evidenced in his more
recent efforts. The works "Brooksby Farm" (1998) and "Third Meeting House"
(1999) are examples of this initiative.
