The most common orphaned animals on the Eyre Peninsula are Western Grey Kangaroos and Hairy Nosed Wombats. There are small populations of Euro on the Peninsula which occasionaly end up orphaned and in the Northern ares of the Peninsula Red Kangaroos sometimes move far enough South to end up as casualties as well. I will not go in to detail here, but the important thing is to keep the animal warm and get it on to the correct milk formulae. Australian native animals have specific dietary requirements. DO NOT feed them ordinary cows milk. Marsupial milk changes during lactation to provide the nourishment required at the different stages of joey development. Wombaroo Food Products produce Milk Replacers which are designed for individual marsupials, and are graded according to age of the joey to mirror the changes which occur in nature. There are four grades for kangaroos, three for wombats, and two each for possums and echidnas. A fact sheet is available and more support from the links below.
