The RS Beas group is a multi-million dollar multi-national operation.
Physically, it consists of the cult headquarters and stronghold in Beas,
India, several hospitals also in India, and elaborate "centers"
in many countries. The money to operate all of this exists because
- and ONLY because - the leader of the group is seen as a "god".
The flow of money to maintain the group is generated by the "unspoken"
assumption that supporting the group will result in positive favors after
death.
The announced group purpose is "spirituality", however, trying to find it is a different story.
Let's look at where the money goes:
Perhaps the biggest chunk goes toward running free hospitals in India.
That's a nice idea,
but hardly spiritual. The hospitals treat poor Indians, most
of whom are not members of the group. The hospital doctors and staff
are generally not members of the group. Also, it is reported that
abortions have been done at at least one of the hospitals which would
be contrary to the teachings of the group. Not much spirituality
here.
The next biggest chunk of money probably goes toward maintaining the
cult headquarters and its
"executive level" Indians. The "master" and his friends get whatever
they want - whatever it costs.
The "in crowd" have nice new cars. Reportedly, expensive items
are purchased in other countries and smuggled into India so the "master"
can give all his friends "gifts". Of course, all this would be paid
for by donations.
After this there are the "centers" that have been popping up all over the world. These are maintained by group members but are rarely used for anything. Ordinarily, you cannot go to them even if you are a group member.
Now let's go looking for some spiritual assistance:
To start out you will have to join the group. Then you can go
to the "initiation" in which someone will read the "initiation script"
(called the "initiation notes") to you. If you have any questions
you are free to ask away, but don't expect to get answers. You might
get told "you'll find out when you're ready"
or that the technique takes 400 years and you have 399 years left or
some such. You can talk to
other members, but they are in the same boat you are. As a last
resort, you can journey to India
and consult "The Great and Powerful Wizard of OZ" himself and hope
he will talk to you. But,
don't expect anything meaningful here either.
What about the "centers". They have inspiring names such as "Soul
Science Study Center".
Surely, that must mean that people study "Soul Science" there and if
you go "knock on the
door" someone will teach you. Nice idea, but not true.
Someone just likes to make up
"cute names". In reality, the centers are dis-used most of the
time and you cannot go there.
No one is teaching "Soul Science" or any other science for that fact.
So what do members do. Well, members who remain members
get "strung out" in all kinds
of activities none of which are spiritual. You can join a work
detail and get sent to some construction site where the "master" is building
a new "center". You can give up your home and let it be used for
meetings to seduce more people to join the group. You can write out
your will giving everything you own to the group leader. You can
do lots of things while you are "waiting for spirituality".
What about your questions. Well, as the years drag on you will
gradually give up and forget them.
Then everything will be fine. You will have won the battle with
your inquiring mind.
You will "love big brother" and you won't question why or even care.
So, essentially what we have is a company which makes a fortune selling
a product which
it does not have and cannot provide. The cash flow is maintained
by promises followed by
excuses why the promises do not materialize followed by more promises.
But there is nothing
there. There never was anything there. There never will
be anything there.
