TECHNICAL  POINTS

TYPES OF GURUS

Gurus fall into two basic classes.  One class includes totally realized gurus who originate directly from God.  The other class includes gurus who are considered legitimate because they are part of a line of gurus or esoteric chain.  The active guru is not necessarily fully developed or perfect but is considered to be effectively perfect because he is linked to the line of gurus.  At least one guru in the line is considered perfect and, because all the gurus in the line are presumed to be actively linked,
the "less than perfect" gurus of the line are "covered" by those who are perfect.

The RS gurus fall into this second category, i.e., gurus who are not completely developed but are assumed to be perfect because they are linked to a guru who is perfect.

EVIDENCE OF LINKAGE

Although the RS gurus claim legitimacy by virtue of the linkage mechanism discussed above,
there is no evidence that the living guru has any ability to communicate with other gurus in his line who are no longer living.

In the case of Grinder Singh, when he was asked a question about initiations in 1991, he replied that he could not answer because he had not yet read his "initiation instruction book" and so did not know
the answer.  His master, Charan Singh, clearly would know the answer.  Obviously, Gurinder Singh
had no telepathic link to Charan Singh or he could have given the answer without reading his instruction book.

In the case of Charan Singh, there is a weak claim of some type of linkage with Sawan Singh
in the form of Charan Singh's claim that he saw a "flash of light" when Sawan Singh died.  However, this is hardly a solid communications link.

Faqir Chand, the "honest guru", states that his master told him to "change the teachings" but died
before he had a chance to tell him "how to change the teachings".  Clearly, in this statement, he confirms that he has no contact with his master now that his master has died.

From the evidence the only possible conclusion is that the RS gurus, by any legitimate standard of certification, cannot be called gurus at all.  They can properly be called "preachers" or "religious leaders" but not realized perfect gurus because they are not fully realized in their own right and have lost (or more correctly never had) any telepathic link to the line of gurus of which they are a part.

PERFORMANCE CLAIMS AND ABILITIES

The RS gurus claim essentially every conceivable power and ability.  The fact that they do not demonstrate any of these "special skills" is explained away by saying that God does not want them to.

Special powers and abilities have names and descriptions in available literature because someone experienced them at some time.  There are living contemporary people who have special skills, however the RS gurus do not seem to be among them.

Helping people at the time of death and after death

A primary claim of RS gurus is that they help followers at the time of death.  There is no evidence to support this claim and Faqir Chand specifically states that it is not true.

However, it is not impossible.  In Robert Monroe's (Monroe Institute) books Monroe describes
how he was able to leave his body and visit his dead wife and other dead friends.  He also describes
"picking up a dead friend" from one (less desirable) astral sub plane and transporting the person to
another (more desirable) astral sub plane.  So, such events are possible and have been reported in literature.  It should be noted that Robert Monroe taught himself astral travel after being initiated by an accident.  He was never trained by any yogi or eastern mystic and, in fact, had an aversion to them.  However, he was actually able to do the things RS gurus claim they can do but, in fact, cannot.

Legitimate linkage in esoteric chains

It is not impossible to have a legitimate line of gurus.  In such a line there would exist an unbroken linkage.  One valid mechanism to maintain this would be through the "third eye".  People whose third eye is active can perform ordinary activities in the physical world and - at the same time - carry on an activitty on some other plane of existence through the third eye.  Consequently they function as an active link between dimensions.  Real psychics see and talk to their spirit guide(s) using the third eye at the same time they are giving "readings" to people.  The guide gets the information and tells the psychic who tells the client.  The psychic is limited by the skill of the spirit guide.

A legitimate guru operating as part of a line of gurus would need an active communications channel such as this which is never broken because the authority and legitimacy of the guru is not based upon his own achievements but upon the abilities of preceding gurus.  If such a link does not exist
or exists but is lost at some point, the guru immediately loses legitimacy.

In the case of the RS gurus, the evidence suggests that no linkage has ever existed and that is a mistake to refer to any of them as legitimate gurus and fraudulent for any of them to claim to be
"perfect masters".
