2000 Playoff Notes

Fantasy Bowl
Banana Slugs 144: The Slugs had the highest weekly point total for the second week in a row and 5th time this season. The Slugs victory wasn't secured until Marshall Faulk and Keyshawn Johnson combined for 6 TDs and 64 points on Monday night. Jeff Garcia had another big game with 27 points and Jamal Lewis pitched in with a TD and 19 points. The only Slugs that didn't manage a double digit score were Eric Moulds playing in a blizzard in Buffalo and the Dolphins defense that could not stop Peyton Manning.

Hobo's Hunters 126: In a week 16 scheduling quirk, the Hunters had their entire lineup play before the Sunday 4 pm game. The Hunters put up a solid 126 point score, but then had to watch as the Slugs clawed back into the contest. The Hunters got excellent play from Eddie George, Ricky Watters, Randy Moss, and Jimmy Smith. A Titan shutout against the lowly Browns also helped. Two factors combined to torpedo the Hunters chances at a Fantasy Bowl victory. First, Rich Gannon hurt his knee on the first drive of the Saturday 4 pm game. Gannon returned, but did not look good the rest of the afternoon. Second, the Cheifs committed to the run in their upset victory over the Broncos and Tony Gonzalez was hardly utilized.

Semi Final Game 1
Banana Slugs 140: The Slugs had the highest weekly point total for the 4th time this season. The key was an amazing 79 points combined from Jeff Garcia and Marshall Faulk. This was more points than the entire lineups of the G'heese Heads and We Be Jamins. Jamal Lewis and Ryan Longwell pitched in with 19 and 16 point respectively. The Slugs achillies heel remains the receiver positions. Their three receivers combined for only 20 points. Of course, if the Slugs receivers had scored 0 they would have still won this game by 2 points.

Lindy's Lickers 118: The Lickers got behind early, but refused to go quietly. 118 points was the slumping Lickers first triple digit score since week 11. Aaron Brooks continued his amazing run with 26 points. Ahman Green had 2 late TDs to boost his point total to 26. Even week 15 free agent pickup Darrell Jackson, a former Slug, pitched in with 15 points. The Lickers biggest disapointments were RB Stephen Davis and REC James Thrash who both failed to reach the endzone in the Redskins embarrassing loss to the Cowboys. The Steelers defense was also smoked in the Meadowlands by the Giants.

Semi Final Game 2
Hobo's Hunters 131: The Hunters were led to victory by Eddie George with 30 points and a receiver corps that combined for 60 points. The receivers were led by Jimmy Smith, who is finally completely back from injury. The Hunters trade with the Bombers of Tim Brown for Smith may not have worked out for the Hunters when the move was first made, but Smith's 24 points as opposed to Brown's 10 points resulted in a 28 point swing that was more than the difference in this contest.

Ballistic Bombers 113: The Bombers have to look back at their trade of Marshall Faulk and wonder what might have been. Not that Tiki Barber and Tyrone Wheatley were bad, but their 32 points combined was still 12 points less than Faulk's 44 points. The Bombers receivers and RBs were solid, but could not compete with the Hunters. The only positional advantages held by the Bombers in this game were QB and defense. That was simply not enough to win.
