Biographical Data

1942. Born on May 14, Edvard Vasilyevich Rtveladze, in the city of Borzhomi, Georgia, in a family of a clerk. Father - Vasiliy Iosifovich - Georgian, Mother - Anna Timofeevna - Russian.

1959. Finished school in the city of Kislovodsk, the Stavropol region, Russia.

1962. Enrolled in Tashkent State University with a speciality of historian-archaeologist. Entered on his duties at the Khamza Art-Studies Institute in Tashkent.

1975. Received his M.S. in history.

1989. Received his doctorate with a thesis titled "Ancient Bactria and medieval Tokharistan. Dynamics of historical and cultural development".

1995. Chosen a Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Laureate of the Beruni State Award, professor, doctor of history. Author of more then 600 published and unpublished works in the field of history, culture and archaeology of Central Asia and the Caucasus.

Rtveladze's works have been published in England, the USA, France, Italy, Russia, Germany, Hungary, Japan and in the Ukraine. Participant of many international scientific conferences. Conducted over 90 archaeological expeditions. Lectured on the history and culture of Central Asia and the Orient at Tashkent State University, the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies and at the Institute of Histrionic and Fine Arts Studies.

1995-1996. Worked as a Maitre de Conferences College de France.

Married. Father of three children.
