Using the Computer in Art

Our Tenth grade student has been working with Photoshop 4.0 for the Macintosh and using it to manipulate images of her favorite Japanese Anime characters to then use as desktop pictures on her Mac.  This is truly a "delight directed " activity.
Photoshop is a powerful program for working with photos, and other images.  It has a fairly steep learning curve for most people, and comes with a comprehensive manual.  Our student has been steadily working with the software and finding out what it will do.

In the example here, she drew this sword in pencil, scanned it, and then put it into the image.
She then changed the  hair and robe color on the center figure, took her out of the picture she was in to place in this one  and manipulated the sword direction. The figure on the right also had numerous tweaks.

The following image was three separate ones that she put together to use as a desktop.

Because of her skills in using Photoshop, she has been able to show the teacher how to do things with images for the school website AND has been helpful in preparing documents for the family business.
