Here are samples of picture narrations of the gods of Ancient Greece by our Second grade class. 1. Here we see Zeus with his thunderbolt and his favorite animal, the Eagle. We also see his favorite tree, the Oak.
2. Hera is shown with her favorite animal, the Peacock. We also see an archer, an illusion to the Trojan War, which was prolonged by Hera's intense jealousy of Helen of Troy. If you follow the line of arrows upward above the peacock, you will see them strike Achilles in the heel.
3. Poseidon is next with his mightly trident and his chariot, in which he rides across the waves, calming them. You can see his castle in the background. He spent little time there, preferring to be at Mt. Olympus with the other gods. His favorite animal is the horse, which he gave to mankind. It is shown pulling the chariot.
4. Hades, god of the Underworld is shown in his throne room with his wife, Persephone. To the left you can see Charon, who accompanies the dead across the river Styxx to the gates of the Underworld.
