June 28th, Wednesday At the hole in the wall today i realized that i've been paid allready for this month. The amount of cash on my account is just staggering. *chuckle* Not really that staggering, compared to what other people my age earn, but then those people have a degree and years of work-experience and are working full-time, and i don't and aren't. Instead i've done loads of other stuff, worked on a farm, spent the summer on the alp, done volunteer work in the mountains, hiked through switzerland for a month on SFr. 50.- (that's about 30$), learned to cook, developed my artistic side, battled anorexia, come out as gender dysphoric, worked in construction, spent time hauling cargo on a riverboat, done a lot of drugs, organized scout-camps.... All of which has greatly shaped my being, but none of which actually holds as a reference for helpdesk-administrator. Still, it is a whole lot more money then i'm used to, in fact it's my biggest pay-check ever, and there's so much i'm going to do with it. I can finaly afford to start electro. The long slow painful process of getting rid of all that facial hair (not that there's that much of it to start with, phew). I'm definitely moving out of the students residence where i had a room so far, and spent some time today looking appartments up on the net. I've got printouts for 3 nice-looking little places, all in areas i would like to live. One is in the old town, and looks out over the lake and everything. Can you imagine living in a house that's literaly hundreds of years old? (and of course i'm going to go and install a webserver in it, but that's another story) Of course it also happens to be the most expensive and the smallest. The next is in a house from the beggining of the century, in an old established residential area with lots of little shops. It's also right next to the river (though it doesn't have a view) with lots of green right next door. It also happens to be just a 5 minute stroll from the office. It's also the largest of the three in printed out, and less expensive then the one in the old town. But it's on the ground floor and doesn't get a lot of sun. The third is slightly more distant from office and the town center. On the other hand it's right next to Carouge, which is an old commune that has kept a fierce independence from the big town, and offers many fine small shops, bars and restaurants and the best night-life in town. It is also within walking-distance from the towncenter, and has good connections for public transport (a must, as i haven't got a driving-license, and wouldn't want one anyway. It is the cheapest of the three, and in-between the other 2 in size. It's in a smallish building (only 4 flours) in a moderatly quiet street, and it catches the evening sun. I guess my next step will be maing enquiries with the agency that has put them up for rent. Another nice piece of news is that as of today i work with dreamweaver on a professional level. Today i started fixing our corporate website, and had quite an intense afternoon going over everything that needs to be done together with the person in charge of our presentation on the web. It's going to be a lot of work, i can tell you that. It also has me rather excited, because here i am getting paid for skills which i learned by myself, because it was fun to learn them, and because i wanted to. How's that for job-fullfilment. Not that i ever really wanted to become a geek, but now that i am, what the heck. I've been enjoying myself enormously at work this past month, and it's looking great. Sorry that that's all for tonight, but i've still got some reading to do on the net, the site was down until just now, but i just checked again and it's back up, so i'll finish this. I wish you all a good night, Love, Ruby
