General Alexander Hays commanded a Union brigade at the north end of the Cemetary Ridge line.  To the right of this picture is the ridge itself, to the left is Cemetary Hill.  Just past the road on the left is the current National Parks Visitor Center.  Through the trees behind the statue is the National Cemetary.
