Where is Rivar Hill ?

That is probably the question on your lips. Or not. But here is Gareth's guide to the location of the airfield. I will attempt to describe the location using only words and maps stolen from other websites:

Click on the 'map' below to get a large scale map of the area. The (approximate) place that we are interested in is marked with a big arrow (near the bottom, in the center) I 'borrowed' this map from www.multimap.com.

In words:

1) Take the M4 motorway west out of glorious Reading (towards South Wales).

2) Follow the M4 for about 20 miles and leave at Junction 14.

3) From the junction join the A338 towards Hungerford.

4) You should reach a roundabout with a bronze statue sales place. Turn right here.

5) Follow the A338 through Hungerford town centre (follow the signs for A338 Salisbury)

6) After reaching the edge of Hungerford continue along the A338 for another 4 miles or so.

7) After a bend in the road take the road signposted to Shalbourne and Rivar.

8) Follow the road round into Shalbourne Village turn Left in the centre (at the Plough pub).

9) Follow the road up the big hill. Bear left at the fork at the 'summit'.

10) After about a mile of undulating road the entrance to the airfield appears on the Left.

11) If you arrive by car, drive to the launch point with all the other cars MAKE SURE TO FOLLOW THE EDGE OF THE AIRFIELD AND LOOK OUT FOR LANDING AIRCRAFT!

That's it. To get home turn these instruction upside down.
