These are the results for what I think came from usenet-based readers, as determined by answers to H1 ("how often do you at least READ rec.arts.anime newsgroups") and to J9 ("Where did you find out about this survey?"). This is an imperfect filter as a perusal of the web counterpart of these results show. Those results imply a 3% relative error in identifying readers of newsgroups. On the otherhand, the newsgroups response before the web-based announcement amounts to about 75 returns, and with the filter I get 167 - I have a hard time believing I got another 100 Usenet based responses so long after the first announcement because past experience indicates the first 1/2 to 2/3 of all responses come from the first announcment. On the other hand, I botched the announcment schedule this year, and more telling is that the number of responders that indicated reading at least one of the rec.arts.anime newsgroups was around 165, which is consistent with the count. However, there are inconsistencies between the results from before web announcements and after. By using cuts on answers to H1 and J9, I seemed to get consistent results with a time based cut. The implication is that there is a group of people that use both newsgroups and web forums which have different characteristics than folks that use one or the other. Next time I'll explicitly ask if the responder reads Usenet Newsgroups, and maybe that will clarify matters. I'm going to assume the total from the filter is accurate within 3%.
As with the general results, I've tabulated the raw count and the percentage of total returns for each of the possible responses. I've added a "blank" entry to round out the totals. Some questions had multiple responses, so don't expect all tallies to come to 100%. Enjoy.
