He shook
the silent figure lightly. "Kaede! Wake up!"
No response.
"Kaede, wake up! Aren't you going to hit me for disturbing your
sleep?"
Still no response. Hanamichi was frustrated. He started shaking the figure
violently.
"Rukawa Kaede! Wake up! NOW!"
He resorted to slapping the figure in an attempt to wake him up. All he got was
a blank stare from the figure on the bed. 'Please...wake up from this unseeing
world of yours...'
"Please...wake up...."
He couldn't take it anymore. Tears started running down his face.
"Please...onegai...Kaede..."
It was all his fault. If only he hadn't accused Rukawa of cheating on him with
Sendoh, Rukawa would never have turned out like this. Rukawa had only been
challenging Sendoh on 1-on-1s to be what he always wanted, number one. And he
had gotten jealous and accused him of cheating on him.
*flashback*
He ran out of the locker room and started running without direction. Rukawa
chased, asking him to stop. He said he had done nothing wrong. But Hana was too
angry to listen. He ran onto the road. When he was on the other side he heard a
screech and a earth-shattering scream. It wouldn't be...He turned back.
'Kami!!!' "Kaede!!!" He ran towards the unmoving figure lying in a
pool of red, in the middle of the road, all the while screaming his name.
"Gods...Kaede! Open your eyes!"
He looked at the blood soaking Rukawa's shirt.
"Teme! Kitsune! Wake up! Wake up and call me a do'aho...please...don't you
always do that?"
The ambulance came and took Rukawa away. Hanamichi followed. He was saved but
the doctors said that he had had a serious concussion and might never wake up.
But if he did there was a high chance that he would become a vegetable.
How could it be? He had not even gotten the chance to apologize to him of
cheating on him. How could he?
"Flashback end*
"Kaede...wake up..."
All he got was that blank stare. Although it was unfocussed, it seem to burn a
hole through him. Suddenly, he understood. He stroked Rukawa's hair gently.
"It's okay. I'll wait. For that day where you'll look at me again."
He knew it was impossible, but he still had that tiny bit of hope within him. He
kissed Rukawa's forehead.
