Ambon (ANTARA News) - Police have named five people suspects in connection with the confiscation of 60 separatist "Republik Maluku Selatan" (RMS) flags here on Thursday.

Maluku Deputy Police Chief Senior Commissioner Benno Kilapong said here on Saturday two of the suspects, namely DM (61) and RB (24), had been confirmed as the main actors in the case.

Police confiscated some 59 RMS flags that were kept in the house of DM, a formar postal service employee, in Benteng Tas in Nusaniwe.

They also discovered 125 pieces of red cloth, 306 pieces of green cloth, 286 pieces of blue cloth and 290 pieces of white cloth ready to be cut and sewn into RMS flags.

In DM`s house, police also found some incriminatng documents.

After a deeper invesigation, they later searched RM`s house in Batu Meja, Sirimau, and found an RMS flag and two SS1 bullets there.

Kilapong said an intensive investigation was still being carried out on the suspects to find out whether more people were involved.

"We are still continuing operations against possible RMS flag raising incidents ahead of the visit of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono here to attend the National Family Day program on June 29," he said.

He called on the public to immediately report to the police any suspicious activity they notice happening in their neighborhoods so that police could take prompt action.

"There is no need for any body to keep such flags because doing so can cause people to get into trouble with the law," he said. (*)
