Police say top Jemaah Islamiyah suspects could lead to other
militants
JAKARTA(AP): Two suspected leaders of the Southeast Asian terror group Jemaah
Islamiyah now in custody could help authorities track down other members in
Indonesia, police said Friday.
Zarkasih, identified as the head of Jemaah Islamiyah, and Abu Dujana, the group's
suspected military commander, were among nine people arrested in anti-terror raids
on Java island in the last week.
Police said the duo were being interrogated in the Central Java city of Yogyakarta.
"We hope the information we get from them will lead us to other members of Jemaah
Islamiyah," national police spokesman Maj. Gen. Sisno Adiwinoto told reporters.
Four other suspects arrived at Jakarta's air force base on Friday afternoon, he said,
adding that the three others were being questioned in Yogyakarta or awaiting possible
release because of their age or small role in the terror group. (***)
