Ambon Bombing Triggered by Village Conflict
TEMPO Interactive, Malang: Bombs that exploded at Yos Sudarso Harbor, Ambon, on
Saturday (3/3) was triggered by an old conflict. "It was a conflict between villages,"
said Head of theState Intelligence Agency (BIN) Syamsir Siregar, after the anniversary
of the Army Strategic Reserves Command (Kostrad) at Lapangan Rampal, Malang,
East Java, Tuesday (6/3).
When asked whether the bomb was placed by those who have been on the Poso
(Central Sulawesi) conflict 'most wanted' list who escaped to Ambon, Syamsir was of
the opinion that the possibility rremains small. "The perpetrators were only people
from two villages," he said without naming the villages.
According to him, the public does not need to be concerned that the bombing case
can disclose old conflicts. The organization that he leads, said Syamsir, is not
necessary to monitor the event directly. "We handed it to the police," he said. Raden
