Meet # 10 MEET OF CHAMPIONS 6-2-2001 @ Livingston Park Manchester Central High School |
In this meet only the top athletes in the whole state were here. But the conditions could not be any worse. After the 20 minute lunch break the hurricane-like rain storm flooded lanes 1-3 and forced a hour and a half rain delay. The sprints had to be changed from running 8 at a time to 3 at a time due to the lack of non-flooded lanes. The sprinters could still sprint but the distance runners had to run in lane one through water that was up to the ankles. This was the first M.O.C. since 1977 that a state or meet record was not broken. The winning mile time was the slowest winning time in the M.O.C. history. In the 3200m race H-D had their only athlete running, Sopomore Zach Emerson. The race was more like a swimming meet and with every step you produced a wake that splashed all the way up to your shoulders. It was insane. Despite all agianst him Zach ran 10:18.3, good enough for 11th, and broke the school record in the process. What a great season for everybody. |
