Alcott, Louisa May (1832-1888)
- Susan
Lank Tolbert's LMA page
Well done. It contains biographical
information, a list of works, and an annotated bibliography. It's a good
place to start for a report.
Auden, W.H. (1907-1973)
- W.H. Auden
This site contains a brief biography, some e-texts, and a bibliography.
Austen, Jane (1775-1817)
- Jane Austen's
Corner
This is an amazing site. It contains a detailed chronology
of her life and has links to the texts of her work. It also contains
information on the works' historical background, links to other sites, and
a bibliography. This page is amazingly comprehens ive and I highly
recommend it.
Beckett, Samuel (1906-1989)
-
The Samuel Beckett Endpage
A biography, pictures, a list of
printed biographies, a list of his works, and a bibliography of research
materials are just some of the resources to be found here. This is also a
good general site; go here for the lists of printed works about the author.
Bishop, Elizabeth (1911-1979)
- Elizabeth Bishop
Parts of
this site are under construction, but all of its links work at this time.
It contains a brief biography and even briefer bibliographies, in addition
to some information about collections of her work.
Blake, William (1757-1827)
- The William Blake
Archive
This is an ongoing project which attempts to unite Blake's
art with his written work. Part of it is searchable. There is an
extremely useful bibliography of critical works, but most of it is about
his art. Still, it's very nice to look at, and I believ e it will only
become more impressive with time.
There are a relative plentitude
of sites with e-texts and/or art, and a good place to start looking for
them is the link page at:
Blake and Union. This page also contains some good biographical
information.
Bronte, Anne (1821-1849)
- Part of the celebration of women
writers: An
AB page. This site has a good biography, plus a bibliography of works
and links to the texts.
Bronte, Charlotte (1816-1855)
-
Charlotte Bronte: An Overview This is her page at the Victorian
Overview. This page, like all the Victorian Overview pages, is an
interlinked series of brief articles and discussions about the author's
life and work, including the texts. The sheer number and
interconnectedness of the links can be overwhelming at first, but it takes
very little time to learn where information is likely to be. Also, the
articles are written for teaching purposes.
Browning, Elizabeth Barrett (1806-1861)
-
Elizabeth Barrett Browning: an Overview This is part of the Victorian
Web. It contains links to biographical materials, cultural context
information, religion and philosophy, and all the other brilliant critical
and historical information one would expect from the VW. Highly
recommended.
Browning, Robert (1812-1889)
- The Victorian
Web entry. (See under General Sites for more information about the
Victorian Web).
Byron, George Gordon, Lord (1788-1824)
- The Lord
Byron Homepage This site contains a chronology, links to e-texts (soon
it will have its own), and an extensive bibliography of the author's
works, including letters and journals. Unfortunately, there's not too
much critical information, but it's still a good site.
