This year our class will be participating in “Student of the Week”-   The project was a great success during the 2000-2001 year and throroughly enjoyed by students and parents.

“Student of the Week” is an opportunity for students to share their interests and talents with the class.  We look forward to learning more about everyone in the class!

Please encourage your child to prepare in advance for the activities of his/her week.  Discuss with your child the different items he/she is preparing for the display and the book your child will read aloud to the class.

Activities for the Student of the Week:

Monday: Take a Look
(Tues. if long weekend)

Set up your prepared display.
The display should be done on Bristol board with your name as the title.  You must include your “About Me” information sheet.  Write all about you, your family, your interests, talents, etc.
You can include photographs, awards, collections, or anything else you think might be interesting.  Don`t forget to write a few sentences to describe/explain each of the items/pictures displayed.
Remember to make your display neat and creative!
It will remain on display until Friday.

Wednesday: Story Book Sharing
Choose a favourite book.  You will read this book (or a chapter) to the class.  Pick a story that will keep your audience interested, and that you can read without much difficulty.  Practice your reading at home so that you are prepared to read to the class.

Friday:   Let`s Talk
(Thurs. if long weekend)

You will have time to present your display to the class.  You may want to bring in an interesting item to show during your presentation. This is your chance to talk to the class about YOU!  It is also an opportunity for your classmates to ask you questions and make comments.
After your short presentation, your classmates will have the chance to write you a letter to let you know how much we enjoyed learning about you.  These letters will be yours to keep.
